THE STARS OF THE SHOW

Meet KALIA(Kah-Lee-Uh)- Means "BEAUTY" in Hawiian

Kalia is a female GreenWing Macaw, Hatched on March 15, 2006. We acquired Kalia from The Bird Hut in Portland Oregon. Kalia was our first Macaw to join our Family. Kalia was only 3 1/2 months old when we found her at The Bird Hut, her personality and demeanor was full of fun and excitement, just what we were looking for. Kalia is a very active bird, we call her our "wild child", she has a high energry level and is always keeping us on our toes, getting her to be mellow and calm is next to impossible, but she always makes things FUN!!!. She has a Big Heart and always welcomes attention from others. She is our ham that we never know what she might do next to attract more attention.

Calypso is timid and shy with a very mellow and quiet personality, she is sweet and loves to Cuddle. Yes Birds DO cuddle!!!

Meet BUSTER

Buster is a male Greenwing macaw. Buster was our third Macaw. We acquired Buster from a private party in August 2009, we were told at that time he was 2 years old, we have nothing more to go on for his age, so we have accepted him as 2 years old with a birthday of Aug 17, 2007( This was the day we acquired him in 2009).

We refer to buster as our "middle child" not just because of age but because he falls between Kalia and Calypso as far as personality, he is mellow at times and crazy at other's. Buster has a vocabulary of approximately 2 dozen words/ phrases. Busters original owner passed away from emphysema, and the man we aquired him from had purchased Buster from the original owners estate after he passed. Since Buster immitates an emphysema type cough, and he also says his name, so we are confident at least these facts are true, whether his age is accurate or not, we do not know with certainty. The gentleman we acquired Buster from simply was unaware of the time and work these guys require and was a good enough man to realize he was unable to give Buster what he needed and had posted Buster for rehoming on Craig's List. This is a common mistake many people make when considering a parrot as a pet. We were very willing to take in Buster as part of our flock as his final home!

Meet our Newest (yet oldest) Member of the flock Lindiwe (Lynn-dee-wuh),her name means "The one we have waited for"

Lindiwe (Lynn for short) is a Congo African Grey, Lynn is about 20 years old ( we are still reseaching her actual hatch date). We acquired her from her previous owner after he saw our add for the parrots4show on Craig's List. Her previous owner's life had changed courses and he and his wife found themselves traveling often around the world as missionaries. He contacted us and asked if we would be interested in adopting another bird for our shows. He thought we would be a good fit for Lynn as she was used to being in a classroom with her previous owner for about 4-5 years, she was also at one time a pet therapy bird. As her past had been full of doing things to better others, her previous owner thought she would fit right into our shows to continue her educating of others, we of course, were happy to assist in the effort to give her a new home and we welcomed her into our home with the rest of the flock on February 19th 2010. Lynn's previous owner was quite sad when he said his goodbye's to her as he had had Lynn from a baby for the past 20 years, but he knew it was best for Lynn to be in a home that she was not left alone as often. These are the exact reasons I do my shows, to help educate people about the demands a healthy parrot requires. As hard as I am sure it was for Lynn's previous owner to give her up, I give HUGE kudo's to him for thinking about the bird before himself, having a bird can require some sacrifices, and sometimes that sacrifice might be the bird itself. We assured the previous owner that we would take great care of her with lots of love and care and this would be her final and forever home with Parrots4show. We also let him know he can come see Lynn anytime he would like!
